Instrumental Reading Drills
REQUIRED FOR ALL STUDENTS IN MY CLASSES

All serious music students should know how to read manuscript. Reading manuscript is a must have skill in the professional world even for drummers. These drills take the student through the treble and bass clefs systematically in order to internalize reading notes on a staff. Think of them as basic times tables but for music instead of math. Do the quizzes in order, starting with sol fa. Look to the work sheets to understand how to read music and then begin to memorize it. These will be included in your grades. All students must pass all the quizzes. There is no way to pass academic courses without knowing how to read and this is also true with passing music and reading music.
